Today we explored the ‘Ready Made’ during our workshop. I commenced by looking at a few artists for inspiration, Joseph Cornell, Jeff Koons, Hanna Huges (my new favorite), and Joseph Cornell, as well as searching online for orphaned objects art.
I wandered around the boat and examined for potential orphaned objects that I could utilize in the project. My first choice was a stack of wood behind the stove, and the second one was a drawer with my lino print tools. I also photographed a tray from the wood burner and a rock collection. I was not ecstatic about these outcomes, but fortunately, I had something else planned.
My preferred part of this activity was executing a paper abstract ‘painting’ working with several different colors of cardboard, scissors, and tape. Utterly mesmerized and inspired by the elegant shapes, composition, and textures of Hanna Huges’ artwork, I let my creativity travel in a parallel direction. I truly savored the experience because it provides me with such a great sense of freedom, and I would enthusiastically engage in a similar process repeatedly.
