Finally, a sunny day so I decided to venture outside to see if I can find any inspirations. I had a few ideas in mind. One was to set a camera on a fifteen-second timer as it hangs off my shoulder, walk around, and randomly point it at the space and observe what happens. I have concluded the task, but the outcome was not exciting (I might try this approach again as I reckon it has potential). As I wandered around the boat, at the bottom, I discovered a forgotten task of sanding and painting the stern.
I was really content to discover that, as I find rust a very intriguing photographic opportunity.
In my opinion, deterioration is incredibly fascinating and mesmerizing. I love the lines engraved by rain, wind, and sun, as well as by myself when grinding the rust away with an angle grinder. Such is a way of a narrowboat, always something to fix and do on a floating home, but then continuously something intriguing to observe.
I made an effort to let go and took only three shots. I was consciously aware not to look for the ideal image and the perfect subject and composition. I just went with what felt right, leaving aside my usual concepts.
