Fingerprints

For this photograph, I contemplated exploring randomness. I picked up my camera and, from the point I was standing, looked around the boat 360 degrees. I decided that I will take an image of a first thing, object, or composition that will catch my eye. The chance pointed me in the direction of fingerprints on a glass part of the door.

It made me reflect on the haphazardness of life and how everything could be so much different for each one of us if only one thing on our path diverged. The butterfly effect, the uncertainty of it all, on the other hand, the destiny, if you believe in it. With the pandemic keeping us at home for so long now, I hope we all have a lot of time to reflect, make positive changes, discover new appreciation, or strengthen the existing ones. To count ourselves lucky, however hard it is sometimes. I hope that your home provides you with love and comfort in these unprecedented times. Anchor deep.

I always say perspective is a beautiful thing. It can completely change your attitude, see anything in a positive light if you only apply the right mindset. The fingerprint, a one of a kind mark unconsciously affixed on a glass, like our presence imprinted on this world.

I found this project very engaging and taking me to some unexpected places, including philosophical reflections that originated from taking up a method of randomness to this photograph. I would never have thought I end up here when I started. I am now deep into the unknown. It’s great to be here.
